The Quality Inspector’s primary responsibilities include inspection, documentation, engineering support and Part 145 Repair Station operations. Each of these are the major components which lead directly to their overall goal of ensuring the continued airworthiness of NTPS fleet aircraft.

Use your skills and experience to:

Inspection

• Perform detail-oriented conformity inspections on fixed- and rotary-wing airframe and powerplant configurations using FAA-approved processes and recommendations.
• Supervise troubleshooting activities to determine the root cause of an issue thorough evaluation and root cause analysis
• Supervise specialized non-destructive testing, such as borescope techniques, and precise dimensional analysis.

Documentation

• Ensure that aircraft logbooks, maintenance records, and internal work orders are updated to accurately represent the latest work performed on each aircraft.
• Review flight records in accordance with FAA regulations and policy to ensure they accurately reflect flight time, cycles, fatigue life, etc. for the NTPS aircraft fleet.
• Update manuals and maintenance programs for experimental aircraft to comply with FAA requirements, best industry practices, and latest manufacturer technical data.
• Monitor, track, and ensure compliance with FAA Airworthiness Directives.

Engineering Support

• Ensure documentation and FAA approvals for the installation of aircraft modifications conforms to approved engineering documentation to include, flight test instrumentation, test hardware and software.
• Establish Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA’s) for the permanent installation and modification of equipment installed by NTPS.

Part 145 Repair Station

• Establish and maintain a Part 145 Repair Station Certificate with the local FSDO.
• Ensure the Repair Station quality program, training program, and documentation complies with all FAA requirements.
• Develop, mentor, and train new personnel, apprentices, and technicians working to obtain an A&P or to meet the qualifications to perform activities approved under the repair station certificate.

Aircraft Maintenance

If required, the Quality Inspector may be asked to perform A&P tasks and supporting activities for aircraft maintenance and return to service.

Supervision

Provide daily maintenance supervision to include maintenance personnel training and training records, maintenance processes control, document control and daily supervision of maintenance tasks as required.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

• FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) and Inspection Authorization (IA) certificates.
• High school Diploma or Equivalent.
• 3 years experience as an IA.

Desired:

• Non-destructive inspection training certificate.
• FAA Pilot Certificate.
• Associate or higher degree in aviation maintenance or related.
• 10 years of experience as an IA.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and CAMP.
• Experience in both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.
