Course Description

The Citation Jet Pilots (CJP) UPRT course provides the foundational knowledge for recognizing upset attitudes and recovering from them in the student’s Citation or in a representative jet transport category aircraft. Academics focus on fundamental concepts that support student learning.  The unique aspects and challenges of flying transport category aircraft, their envelopes, maneuvering and this affects UPRT is specifically covered in this course. Aircraft specific training, flight briefings and debriefings emphasize desired learning outcomes for that flight.  Flight training includes a flight in the student’s Citation or an option to fly in the Sabreliner and a flight in the MB-326 Impala.

Each student will:

• Receive 5 hours of academic training to include
  • Aerodynamics
  • Aircraft Limits, Certification criteria and how that fits into upsets
  • Propulsion
  • Stability and Control
  • Energy management and lift vector control
  • Basic maneuver toolbox and recovery techniques
  • Course wrap-up and debrief

• Receive approximately 6 hours of aircraft/flight specific ground training, flight briefings and debriefings:
  • Aircraft specific ground training
  • Aircraft specific cockpit familiarization
  • Impala ejection seat training
  • Local area familiarization
  • Flight briefings and debriefings

• Receive two flights, one is the owner’s Citation or optional Sabreliner and one flight in the MB-326 Impala of approximately 1 hour each to include:
  • Low speed energy management
  • Approach to stall recovery training
  • Certification full stall training
  • Accelerated stall training
  • Upset recognition and recovery training
  • Recovery to base with a Simulated Flame-Out (SFO) pattern
  • Normal Patterns
