All Attitude Turboprop UPRT

Duration

3 training days (4 days with a backup day available)

Course Description

The All Attitude turboprop UPRT course provides the foundational knowledge for recognizing upset attitudes and recovering from them with a focus on the unique aspects of a turboprop aircraft..  This course is designed to expose students with dynamic maneuvers to include all-attitude flying with upset recoveries. Academics provide the student with the fundamental knowledge required to grasp the concepts that affect the aircraft flight envelope, causes and recognition of upsets and recovery techniques. Aircraft specific training, flight briefings and debriefings emphasize specific learning outcomes for each flight.  Flight training includes one flight in a King Air and one flight in an Extra 300 (T-34C if available).

Each student will:

  • Receive 6 hours of academic training to include
    • Subsonic Aerodynamics
    • Aircraft Limits, Certification criteria and how that fits into upsets
    • Propulsion
    • Stability and Control
    • Digital Flight Controls
    • Energy management and lift vector control
    • Basic maneuver toolbox and recovery techniques
    • Case Studies
    • Course wrap-up and debrief
  • Receive approximately 8 hours of ground training:
    • Aircraft specific ground training
    • Flight gear fitting and issue
    • Aircraft specific cockpit familiarization
    • Local area familiarization
    • Flight briefings and debriefings
  • Receive one flight in a King Air and one flight in an Extra 300 (T-34C if available) of approximately 1 hour each to include:
    • Familiarization with the aircraft and airspace
    • Low speed energy management
    • Approach to stall recovery training
    • Certification full stall training
    • Accelerated stall training
    • Dynamic VMCA demonstration
    • Familiarization with all-attitude flying, energy management and lift vector control
